Senior Quality Assurance Officer Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan
Job Summary:
Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P) operates one of the largest not-for-profit private healthcare systems in the country, focusing on the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh. Its core initiatives include providing healthcare services to hard-to-reach populations through outreach clinics, training community midwives, screening for non-communicable diseases, and implementing digital health solutions.
AKHS, P is looking for a competent Senior Quality Assurance Officer for the Gilgit Region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Quality Management system for project areas surrounding BEmONC clusters within the AKHS, P catchment areas based on Total Quality Management (TQM) principles.
- Progress from Quality Assurance (QA) to Quality Improvement (QI) and then to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) levels.
- Promote evidence-based decision-making through the application of the PDCA methodology.
- Develop a culture of open and blame-free incident reporting.
- Foster a quality management culture in AKHS, P through regular internal quality audits.
- Ensure consistent quality and patient safety 24/7/365.
- Facilitate AKHS, P facilities in maintaining ISO Certification.
- Ensure that Quality of Care-related SOPs are up-to-date in both AKHS, P and Government selected facilities.
- Ensure compliance with the six International Patient Safety Goals.
- Liaise closely with the team and the Pharmacy Department to ensure medication safety.
- Work with doctors, nurses, and administrators to address and comply with all aspects of patient safety.
- Report Quality Indicators for BEmONC sites and as needed for AKHS, P facilities.
- Promote ongoing organization-wide risk management.
- Develop a system of risk analysis, scoring, grading, and management using a risk assessment matrix.
- Produce an Organization-Wide Risk Register according to internationally recognized best practices.
- Incorporate risk management into incident management to transition from reactive incident management to proactive incident prevention.
- Evaluate quarterly patient satisfaction data and make improvement suggestions.
- Conduct three-monthly trend analysis of regional Quality Assurance reports.
- Facilitate bi-annual Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
- Work with the Project team (F4HE) and M&E Managers to produce monthly reports for health facilities.
- Travel to health facilities to carry out quality checks.
Required Skills, Education, Experience & Competencies:
- MBBS, BScN, MScN, with Masters in Public Health (preferred) / MPH or MBA (Preferably in Health & Hospital Management).
- Diploma or certifications in Quality Assurance are a plus.
- At least 5 – 10 years of experience in Hospital Quality Assurance or community healthcare and clinical settings.
- Knowledgeable about the latest practices in community programs, hospital settings, administration, and management.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practice.
- Strong consensus building and interpersonal skills, excellent people management, communication, negotiating, and conflict management skills.
- A team player with strong networking skills and excellent people management abilities to work with diverse and demanding stakeholders, including Heads of AKDN institutions.
- Analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio); SPSS knowledge would be an added advantage.
- Commitment to reducing environmental impact, striving for net-zero carbon operations by 2030.
