A Successful and Empowered Woman Ms.Shaista Ghazi is a brave daughter of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Ms.Shaista Ghazi is a brave daughter of Gilgit-Baltistan. Her forefathers had migrated to Gilgit from Hunza. She is a perfect example of a successful woman. She got her early education from Public school and college, Jutial, Gilgit. Afterwards, she completed her degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Karakorum International University (KIU), Gilgit. She remained a mediocre throughout her academic career.
Along with her studies, she worked as a news reader at Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), Gilgit. She broke the tides of the conservative society when she got appointed as Section Officer in 2012 through Gilgit-Baltistan competitive examination. She was the first lady from Gilgit Baltistan to attain such an administrative position.  She is now serving as Deputy Secretary GAD Gilgit-Baltistan. She can be attributed as an example of commitment and hardworking women. Despite discouragements from all the sectors of the society, her deeds and hard work pave the way for her success.
She shares her memories as; at first people were pessimistic about working of women at administrative level. They opined that, being a woman, it will be challenging for me to continue my profession. People were of the opinion that a woman cannot compete with men in the competitive examination, since I have studied from a local university, while they have studied from international and from well-reputed national universities. Despite their discouragement, I was determined to let my dreams come true and finally I proved it.
She further shares her experience as a working woman and maintains that she is at no regards less than men. According to her opinion, men and women are equal in all regards. She holds herself equally responsible and accountable as a male counterpart could be. She does not face any kind of discrimination and harassment since her joining of the service. She further argues that, this might be because of the powerful post or due to her strict and straight forwarded personality.
Ms. Shaista’s conviction regarding hurdles and challenges is worth mentioning. The way of success always passes through hurdles and challenges, one who wants to win must face those challenges with bravery, she argues. Furthermore, women should help and encourage other women to change the prevailing system of non-traditional sectors. She is of the view that men should not discourage women and treat them with respect, as women have equal rights to earn and learn. It goes without saying, she says, that all this would have not been possible, had there been no support and encouragement from my family.
