CPPA-G deals in electric power procurement on behalf of distribution companies, billing and settlement, and competitive market development facilitation.

Available Positions
CPPA-G is hiring for the following two positions in its Legal Department:
- 1. Manager Legal
- 2. Assistant Manager Legal
Eligibility Criteria
1. Manager Legal
- Required Qualification: Bachelors of Law LL.B. (Masters of Law LL.M or Bar at Law will have an additional advantage)
- Professional Experience: Minimum of Twelve (12) years of post-qualification experience and must be enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court. Candidates with experience in contractual and regulatory matters in the Power Sector will have an added advantage.
- Age Limit: Up to 45 years at the closing date of advertisement.
2. Assistant Manager Legal
- Required Qualification: Bachelors of Law LL.B. (Masters of Law LL.M or Bar at Law will have an additional advantage)
- Professional Experience: Minimum of Three (03) years of post-qualification experience and must be enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court. Candidates with experience in contractual and regulatory matters in the Power Sector will have an added advantage.
- Age Limit: Up to 35 years at the closing date of advertisement.
- Written Test: Written Test will be conducted only for the post of Assistant Manager Legal. Passing Marks in Written Test will be 60%.
Detailed TORs for Manager Legal
As per the official Terms of Reference (TORs), the key skills and responsibilities include:
Skills Requirements:
- Detailed understanding of different basic laws, statutory documents, NEPRA Act, power sector related laws, licenses terms & conditions for key power market players
- Experience of advising or representing in judicial review proceedings
- Comprehensive knowledge of developing energy / power purchase agreements
- Comprehensive knowledge of international commercial arbitration
- Understanding of energy sector litigation
- Strong legal research acumen, drafting, and advocacy skills
- Strong English language comprehension, financial reporting, and computer skills particularly MS Office
- Business Process, Problem Solving & decision-making, Analytical, Negotiation, Influencing, Communication, Project scheduling, Leadership, Supervision & Teambuilding skills
Areas of Responsibility:
a) Legal Support: Assisting the Chief Legal Officer / Chief Executive Officer in rendering opinions on applicable Laws, special assignments, legal compliance, litigation management, and providing legal counseling on all matters.
b) Litigation Support: Assisting in defining standardized process for initiating litigation by and against CPPA-G, monitoring cases in litigation and arbitration, vetting drafts of plaints, replies, petitions, appeals and other court papers, and liaising with the panel lawyers.
c) Purchase Agreements: Assisting in developing, negotiating, and finalizing energy / power purchase agreements.
d) External Counsel: Providing necessary guidance / instructions to external counsel / law firms and monitoring progress of cases as delegated by CEO / CLO.
