Key Functions & Accountabilities – UNICEF SBC Officer Karachi 2026

1. Research and Evidence for SBC Programs: Support in generate and utilize research, data, and evidence to inform the design, ensure effective implementation, measurement, and monitoring of SBC programs and outcomes in both development and emergency contexts. Build the evidence base for Social and Behavior Change.

2. Design and Implement SBC Activities: Design, plan and implement SBC activities backed by social and behavioral evidence and strong engagement and participation mechanisms in both development and humanitarian contexts.

3. Implementation & Partnership Building: Implementation of SBC by mobilizing resources, coordinating across stakeholders, sectors and teams, and partnership building across Community, UC, District, and Provincial level.

4. Continuous Capacity Building: Conduct TNA, designing, development of resources and training execution for UNICEF staff and implementing partners. Strengthen SBC and C4D capacity at all levels.

5. ComNet Coordination: Ensure ComNet coordination and accountability at community, UC, District and provincial level. Support community feedback mechanisms and social listening.

Minimum Requirements – UNICEF Social Behavior Change Officer NO-2

1. Education: A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in a social and behavioral science, including sociology, anthropology, communication studies/communication for development, psychology and/or related field is required.

2. Work Experience: A minimum of two years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: social development programme planning, communication for development or social and behaviour change, public advocacy or another related area. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.

3. Skills: Communication For Development, Capacity Building, Programme Planning, Engagement, Social Development, Humanitarian. Strong skills in behavioral insights, participatory research, and community engagement.

4. Language Requirements: Proficiency in English and Urdu is required. Knowledge of Sindhi and other local languages preferred.

Desirable Qualifications – UN Jobs Pakistan Social Development

1. Additional Experience: Experience in international organizations, human centered design, behavioral insights, social listening, randomized controlled trials, participatory research, humanitarian emergency experience, community feedback mechanisms, polio eradication experience.

2. Context Experience: Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

3. UN Languages: Knowledge of another official UN language Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish is an asset.
