Project Overview and Role

AiD is currently implementing a nationwide survey focused on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). To successfully carry out this important task, the organization is recruiting Field Enumerators (Male/Female) who will play a vital role in the field-level implementation of this data collection initiative. These enumerators will be instrumental in collecting accurate, credible, and comprehensive data across various regions, helping inform future policy-making, development programming, and economic reforms.

Key Responsibilities of Field Enumerators

Field Enumerators will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

  1. Survey Implementation:

    • Conduct structured interviews and surveys with SMEs and MSMEs using standardized questionnaires.
    • Follow the approved data collection plan and protocols to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  2. Data Accuracy & Validation:

    • Accurately record responses on digital data collection devices (tablet or mobile).
    • Ensure data entered is complete, consistent, and valid by performing basic quality checks.
  3. Technology Use:

    • Utilize CAPI (Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) tools efficiently to record responses.
    • Manage and troubleshoot common software/hardware issues during interviews.
  4. Reporting & Coordination:

    • Submit daily reports to Field Supervisors, detailing the number of interviews conducted and challenges faced.
    • Participate in daily debriefing sessions with supervisors and project managers to improve data quality and resolve field issues.
  5. Ethical Standards and Professionalism:

    • Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity when dealing with respondents.
    • Adhere to ethical guidelines and respect the cultural norms of the regions where surveys are conducted.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Professional Experience:

    • A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in conducting field surveys and collecting data in development projects.
    • Previous involvement in nationally representative surveys or household assessments is a strong advantage.
  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Prior experience using digital data collection tools such as tablets and CAPI platforms is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with survey software such as KoboToolbox, SurveyCTO, or ODK will be preferred.
  • Language and Communication Skills:

    • Fluency in English and Urdu is essential.
    • Proficiency in at least one regional or provincial language is required, especially for fieldwork in rural or semi-urban settings.
  • Additional Experience (Preferred):

    • Work experience with the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) will be considered a significant asset.
    • Experience in collecting data related to enterprise development or microeconomic indicators.
