Introduction
The Aga Khan University (AKU), chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to providing education, research, and healthcare of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region.
The Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development, Pakistan (AKU-IED) has a longstanding relationship with the Department of School Education (DSE) GB to improve children's access to quality education, enhance education governance, and involve communities in schools in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The AKU-IED has been contracted by the DSE GB on the GB Education Fellows (EFs) project to improve the quality of education in GB. A consortium comprising LUMS, KIU, and Knowledge Platform, led by AKU, has received a grant from the GB Government to hire and train 1200 Education Fellows in public sector educational institutions in GB.
Job Posting for Education Fellows Education Department Through PDCN 1200POSITION
We are inviting applications for the position of Education Fellows who will be placed for nine (9) months in government educational institutions in GB. Please note that those who applied last year should re-apply if they are still interested and available to work as Education Fellows.
During their placement in different educational institutions, Educational Fellows will undergo an intensive professional development programme organized by AKU and its partners as part of the project. They will also be provided with ongoing professional support to enable them to impart quality education in their schools and colleges.
Responsibilities
The Education Fellow will work under the supervision of their headteachers/principals, district management, and the district-based professional development teachers (associated with the project) to carry out the following responsibilities:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Plan and carry out instructional activities aligned with the curriculum, catering to students of diverse backgrounds and abilities to enhance their learning, particularly their critical and creative thinking.
- Develop lesson plans and implement them effectively to enhance students’ learning outcomes.
- Integrate technology appropriately to promote gamification pedagogy.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Demonstrate a reasonable command over the subject matter.
Engaging Learning Experiences:
- Provide opportunities to students for hands-on and minds-on activities with an aim to foster intrinsic motivation towards learning.
Professional Development:
- Actively participate in ongoing professional development activities to be carried out by the Consortium as well as through other means.
- Become part of the school/college and the wider community to work effectively with school leadership in achieving educational improvement goals.

Requirements
General Education
Preference will be given to candidates with 16-years education in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Computer Science from an HEC-recognized university.
- Subject to the need and availability of posts, in certain areas, consideration will be given to candidates with 14 years of education, including BSc, BA, and BCS.
- Candidates with an Intermediate qualification (i.e., 12 years of education) will be only considered for the marginalized/under-served areas in GB.
Special Education
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- 2nd class or Grade C Master’s degree/BS (Hons) in Special Education, Psychology, and Social Work/Sociology from a recognized university.
- Those having a Master’s degree/BS (Hons) (e.g., Urdu, Islamiat, English, Pakistan Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, and Education) but also having a diploma or a certificate in Special Education will be considered on a need-basis.
Technical and Skills Development
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, BCS/BSCS, Engineering, or BTech (Honors) in Civil Technology, Electrical Technology, or DAE plus 3-year experience from a recognized university.
Demonstrated Skills
All candidates will be expected to demonstrate:
- Excellent subject knowledge.
