Job Description: The purpose of this position is to provide effective technical and operational support in WFP operations within Gilgit Baltistan, with a specific focus on nutrition programme activities.

Key Accountabilities (Not All-Inclusive): Under the overall guidance of the supervisor, the job holder is expected to perform the following tasks:

  • Coordinate regularly with relevant stakeholders to develop synergies and partnerships for the successful implementation of emergency nutrition projects at the district and provincial levels.
  • Maintain close liaison with the Department of Health, LHW, BISP District office to mobilize eligible beneficiaries and develop required partnerships under the nutrition emergency response programme and Benazir Nashonuma Programme.
  • Plan and manage/lead WFP field operations within the assigned area to ensure effective and efficient delivery of food assistance and quick resolution of daily operational issues.
  • Provide project management support to specific "BISP Nashonuma" activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes/projects compliant with WFP standards and procedures in neighboring districts.
  • Assist in preparing project documents with partners, organizing project planning missions, and supporting project assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Analyze received reports/data to ensure the achievement of objectives, suggesting corrective actions when necessary.
  • Monitor, update, and track data related to project issues, commodity pipelines, and financial allotment status reports, ensuring accuracy and informing relevant divisions accordingly.
  • Prepare allocation plans for timely agreements/MOUs/FLAs with partners, ensuring quality service delivery through transparent and competitive selection processes.
  • Maintain records on programme activities, from formulation to completion, making information available for country briefs, profiles, and other related purposes.
  • Carry out advocacy and information-related tasks for project/programme activities, including making presentations in meetings, workshops, seminars, and missions.
  • Prepare status and progress reports, facilitating accurate and timely inputs/reports from implementing partners for M&E analysis and status reports.
  • Evaluate, develop, and recommend procedures, participating in discussions on new/revised procedures and practices.
  • Assist in arranging trainings, reviews, and other programme-related events.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor.

Standard Minimum Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Education: University degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Six years of progressively responsible experience in humanitarian and developmental programmes, with at least 3-4 years of experience managing nutrition programmes.
  • Skills: Managing teams, organizational skills, coordination with different stakeholders including the government, and knowledge of UN systems.
  • Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Urdu. Fluency in the local dialect of the duty station will be an asset.
