Asiya Wahab Achieves Historic Milestone as the First Female in Ghizer District, Gilgit-Baltistan, Successfully Clearing PMS in Initial Attempt and Entering Civil Service

Presenting today's inspiring narrative is Asiya Wahab, a resident of the Gulmuti valley in Punial Tehsil, Ghizer district, Gilgit-Baltistan. Asiya Wahab has achieved remarkable success in the Gilgit-Baltistan Competitive Exams (2021–22) on her first attempt, securing the position of Tehsildar. Her journey not only reflects dedication and resilience but also underscores a profound commitment to community service.

Asiya's educational voyage commenced at Diamond Jubilee School Gulmuti, laying the groundwork for her academic endeavors. For her secondary education, she gained admission to the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (AKHSS), Gahkuch, where she earned the prestigious Female Human Resource Development Program (FHRDP) Scholarship, a testament to her academic excellence.

Following her intermediate education at AKHSS, Gahkuch, Asiya pursued higher studies at Karakoram International University (KIU). She successfully obtained a BS Honors degree in Environmental Sciences from KIU, earning a Gold Medal in recognition of her exceptional academic achievements during her tenure at the university.

Asiya expressed that her aspirations are deeply rooted in a strong desire to serve her community, drawing inspiration from the legacy of her late maternal grandfather. She credited her admiration for the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) as a driving force behind her choice to pursue a path of service and leadership.

Prior to assuming the role of the first female Tehsildar, Asiya served as the principal at Ghizer Higher Secondary School, Gahkuch. Reflecting on her time in this position, Asiya highlighted how it equipped her with adaptability, resilience, and a profound sense of purpose. Concurrently, she made significant contributions to the Pakistan American Cultural Center as the lead English educator, using her expertise to bridge cultural gaps through education.

Navigating the complexities of juggling employment responsibilities with exam preparation, Asiya triumphed in her inaugural attempt. Breaking barriers, she emerged as the first female from Ghizer district to successfully pass the test and interview phases of the Provincial Management Services test series within the Gilgit-Baltistan Competitive Examination on her first try. As a testament to her achievement, she has now assumed the role of Tehsildar.
