Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarships (SSMS) - Fully Funded International Scholarship
The Government of Punjab has introduced the "Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarship (SSMS)," a fully funded international scholarship for Ph.D. level education. This program aims to award eligible male and female students, following the specified eligibility criteria, scholarships for Ph.D. studies at the world's top-ranked universities.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Valid Ph.D. admission offer from one of the Top 50 (Subject Wise) Universities of the World (QS ranking) in preferred subject areas.
- Minimum 60% marks throughout the academic career.
- Declared monthly family income (including self, spouse, and parents) equal to or less than PKR 200,000/-
- Maximum age of 35 years on 29th March 2018.
- Not availed any foreign scholarship in the past.
- Must enroll in the scholarship in the year for which it is offered, and deferral to the next year is not allowed.
- All Pakistani nationals, both males and females, are eligible to apply.
Note: Existing permanent/regular faculty members of public sector teaching/educational institutions of Pakistan are not eligible to apply for Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarships (SSMS).
Scholarship Coverage: Ph.D. Scholarships awarded under SSMS are fully funded, covering the following costs:
- Tuition fees of the Degree Course
- Boarding and Lodging (as per approved rates)
- Health Insurance
- Airfare
Discipline-wise Allocation of Scholarships:
- 80% scholarships reserved for science disciplines
- 20% scholarships reserved for Social Sciences/Humanities and Arts.
Geographical Distribution of Scholarships:
- 90% scholarships will be awarded to students from Punjab.
- 10% scholarships allocated for students from other federating units of Pakistan.
