BACKGROUND

The Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) is a Pakistan-based Trust established in 2008 with a mission to enhance all forms of democratic accountabilities in the country. TDEA has been awarded a USD 45 Million Contract by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to implement the Citizens’ Voice Project. The project aims to provide up to 500 grants to various organizations and institutions to strengthen democratic processes in Pakistan.

JOB SPECIFICATION

  • Position: Editor - Communications
  • No. of Positions: 1
  • Salary Range: PKR 60,000 to PKR 140,000 per Month
  • Expected Date of Joining: Immediate
  • Reports to: Manager Communications

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Editor will support the Communications team in developing and maintaining the quality of communication materials and publications for the project. Responsibilities include copy-editing all communication materials for print, web, and electronic distribution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee content creation process, proofread text, and improve clarity, spelling, punctuation, readability, and accuracy of communication materials.
  • Develop and edit donor reports, success stories, case studies, brochures, press releases, media articles, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Ensure adherence to prescribed style guides and consistency in flow, punctuation, formatting, and referencing.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and other departments within the project office as required.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor and Chief of Party.

DUTY BASE

The Editor - Communications position will be based in Islamabad, with occasional travel within Pakistan.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Masters’ degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, English, or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum four years of creative writing and editing experience, preferably with USAID projects.
  • Strong command of English language, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite for structural writing and document composition.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Meticulous work ethic with keen attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with voice & accountability, governance, transparency & accountability, and legislative governance preferred.
