Admission Notice - Master’s Programme (2018)
Applications are invited for admission to the Master’s Programme from candidates possessing at least a second-class Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an HEC recognized University. The following subjects are available for admission:
Faculty of Natural Sciences

- Computer Sciences
- Electronics
- Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Statistics
Faculty of Biological Sciences
- Animal Sciences
- Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Plant Sciences
- Environmental Sciences
Faculty of Social Sciences
- Anthropology
- Archaeology
- BBS (Bachelor of Business Studies)
- Defence & Strategic Studies
- Gender Studies
- Public Administration (MPA)
- Pakistan Studies
- Psychology
- Sociology
Note: Minimum duration of the M.Sc/MPA/BBS Programme is 2 years (4 semesters).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must possess a bachelor or equivalent degree (14-years) with at least a second division (45% marks) from an HEC recognized university.
- Applicants must have studied the specified courses mentioned in the QAU Prospectus as pre-requisites for admission.
- Entry test is required for some subjects, and applicants must pass with at least 40% marks.
Ineligibility: The following are not eligible for admission to the Master’s programme:
- Those who have failed in a Master’s Programme of this University.
- Those who have ceased to be a student of this University.
- Those who already possess a Master or an equivalent degree from this or any other University (except for applicants of Computer Science (Self-Finance), MPA, and Archaeology).
- Students already enrolled in the M.Sc. Programme of this University or any other University.
- For Anthropology/Sociology, applicants with any degree exceeding 14 years are not eligible.
How to Apply:
- Download the Admission Data Summary Sheet from the QAU website.
- Submit a Challan of Rs. 2000/- in Habib Bank Ltd. OR Askari Bank Ltd. in favor of the Treasurer, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
- Attach the Bank Challan with the downloaded Admission Data Summary Sheet and other requisite documents.
- Send the forms and documents to the Assistant Registrar (Admissions), Camp Office, at the back of Central Library, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.
Subject Priorities:
- Applicants are advised to fill/opt the priorities carefully as they cannot be changed once filled.
- An applicant can opt for a maximum of three priorities of subjects on Regular (R) OR on Self-Finance (S) basis or both in the same subjects (3 (R) + 3 (S) = 6).
Reserved Seats:
- Seats are reserved for Children of Army Personnel, Disabled Persons, and Minorities.
Admissions:
- Admissions on Regular basis (Normal Fee) shall be granted strictly on merit subject to Provincial/Regional Quota.
- A limited number of seats shall be filled on Self-Finance basis only on merit irrespective of Provincial/Regional Quota.
- Merit is determined based on academic performance in previous degrees and certificates without considering the Entry Test scores.
Entry Tests:
- Entry tests are for short-listing purposes only and do not count towards merit.
- Cumulative merit is determined from previous academic records.
Equivalence Certificates and Conversion of Grades into Marks:
- Applicants with foreign certificates/degrees should provide equivalence certificates and conversion of grades into marks from HEC for Bachelor level degrees and from IBCC for Matric and Intermediate levels.
- Certificates/Degrees with CGPA of local Universities/Institutions also require conversion of grades into marks from the concerned institutions in Pakistan.
Display of Merit Lists:
- Display of 1st Merit List: 30-01-2018
- Display of 2nd Merit List: 06-02-2018
- Display of 3rd Merit List: 09-02-2018
- Display of 4th Merit List: 13-02-2018
- Display of 5th Merit List: 20-02-2018
- Display of 6th Merit List: 23-02-2018
- Display of 7th Merit List (if required): 27-02-2018
Hostel Accommodation:
- Provided based on availability.
Scholarships/Financial Assistance:
- Available for deserving Pakistani National students in collaboration with various agencies.
Application Procedure:
- Download Need Based Scholarship Form from QAU website.
- Submit duly filled application forms for scholarships/financial assistance to the office of Financial Assistance, Room No.17, Admin. Block, QAU, Islamabad.
Important Instructions:
- Any incorrect/misleading information may result in refusal/cancellation of admission.
- Original Migration Certificates must be submitted within 15 days of admission.
- Admission Forms sent by Post/Courier must reach the University by 16-01-2018.
- Data of all applicants will be available on the University website on 19-01-2018; applicants are advised to check for errors/mistakes and inform the Admission Section by 24-01-2018.
- Left-over documents must be submitted by 24-01-2018.
- The office of Assistant Registrar (Admissions) will remain open to receive documents from Monday-Friday (09:00 AM to 04:00 PM).
