SCHOOL HOURS

and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise”
Scientist and
health experts have proved that an eight hours sleep and a healthy breakfast is
a must for physical and mental healthy life especially for children there is no
excuse of avoiding these two ingredients for health.
There was a
time when we were luckily or unluckily deprived of mobile, internet, computer,
laptop, tablet and even electricity was not available. We used to sleep very
early and were ‘morning larks’ and schools were opened early in the morning.
The situation
has been changed now. With the advancement in science and technology today’s
child is addicted to mobile, internet and other applications which seem
unavoidable for them, parents and others. Today’s child is a ‘Night owl’ who
stays late in the night for media or even study is more convenient than day
time. Resultantly these kids hardly sleep for 3-5 hours a day and in hurry they
skip breakfast and rush to the schools. Majority of students are fatigued and
sleepy in classrooms, they are neither mentally vigilant nor physically
vigorous for studies. This situation is getting worse day by day and children
eat and sleep in the classrooms and prefer to join academies and home tuitions
which have badly affect their progress at schools.
This is right
time to change school timings; probably school should start from 9-10 Am to 3-4
PM so that students sleep enough and eat a proper breakfast to be mentally and
physically alert in classroom. This will also discourage the tuition culture as
well and the teachers who hunt job at academies or at homes will concentrate
more in classrooms.
