USAID-FUNDED MERIT & NEEDS BASED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR MASTER’S PROGRAMS
The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is offering scholarships for Master’s programs in agriculture and business administration. Initiated in 2004, this program aims to provide financial support to deserving students, widen access to quality education, and foster academic interest in fields crucial to Pakistan’s economic development.
BRIEF HISTORY: The Pak-USAID Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program Phase-II focuses on facilitating access to higher education for underprivileged candidates with academic merit but financial constraints. Covering tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, this scholarship aligns with the HEC's commitment to supporting financially deserving students.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the program with a total cost of Rs. 2,954.808 million in its meeting on September 6, 2013. The project is funded by the Government of the United States of America as a Grant in Aid. Phase-I, initiated in 2004, provided 1807 scholarships across eleven universities, with 94% of recipients graduating on time.
OBJECTIVES:
- Enable academically qualified and financially needy Pakistani students to pursue higher education in agriculture, medicine, business, social science, and engineering at select private and public universities in Pakistan.
