The Professional Fellows for Governance and Society, South and Central Asia program, running from September 2013 to December 2019, is an initiative funded by the U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Program Description:

This program targets emerging leaders between the ages of 25-40, facilitating a two-way exchange between India, Pakistan, Nepal, and the United States. Participants will engage in a dynamic process of sharing ideas, enhancing leadership skills, and establishing sustainable connections with their professional counterparts. The primary objective is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. legislative process, achieved through a professional fellowship with a U.S. organization or government office.

Key Components:

  • Professional Fellowship: Participants will be matched with a U.S. organization or government office, where they will gain firsthand experience in the U.S. legislative process.
  • Civic Engagement: Enrichment activities such as meetings with key stakeholders, dialogues, site visits, and participation in the Professional Fellows Congress will enhance participants' understanding of civic life.
  • Themes and Topics: The program covers themes related to legislation and governance, including good governance, legislative processes, the role of women and minorities in civil society, decentralization, youth engagement, NGO development, post-conflict transitions, and non-violent civic participation.
