IREX Community Solutions Program (CSP) 2018–2019: Applications Open

IREX invites applications for the 2018–2019 Community Solutions Program (CSP) until October 31, 2017, 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Program Overview:

CSP is a year-long professional development initiative for those committed to addressing community issues. Focused on environment, tolerance, conflict resolution, transparency, accountability, and women and gender, the program selects up to 100 community activists.

Program Components:

  1. Four-Month Fellowship in the United States:

    • Fellows undergo hands-on professional experiences in the US, matched with host organizations.
  2. Community Leadership Institute:

    • A leadership training program enhancing leadership and management skills through face-to-face trainings, online courses, professional coaching, and networking.
  3. Community-based Initiatives:

    • Fellows, with US host organizations' assistance, design community development initiatives or projects to implement upon return to their home communities.

  • Apply online at IREX CSP Application Portal by October 31, 2017, 11:59 p.m. EDT.
  • Mailed, faxed, or emailed applications will not be accepted.

Financial Support:

The program covers expenses, including:

  • J-1 visa support
  • Round-trip travel from participants' home city to the US
  • Monthly allowance for housing, meals, and living expenses in the US
  • Accident and sickness insurance

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age between 25 and 38 as of January 1, 2018
  • Citizenship in one of the eligible countries
  • Residency and employment in the home country
  • At least two years of community development experience
  • Not engaged in a US academic, training, or research program
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Available to travel to the US from August to December 2018
  • Not a US citizen or permanent resident, and no US permanent residency application in the past three years
  • Eligible to receive a US J-1 visa
  • Commitment to return to the home country for at least two years after program completion
  • Not a current IREX employee, consultant, or immediate family member
