HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION ANNOUNCED AWARENESS SESSION ON CAL FOR PROPOSAL

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Awareness Session on Technology Development Fund

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, through its Technology Development Fund, is hosting an awareness session at Karakoram International University on November 14, 2017. The session aims to enlighten the academic community about the Call for Proposals under the Technology Development Fund.

About the Technology Development Fund: The Higher Education Commission, in line with its mission to facilitate institutions of higher learning as engines for socio-economic development, initiated the Technology Development Fund. This initiative focuses on financing proposals for completed interdisciplinary applied research projects. The goal is to support prototype development and industrial value addition, fostering technology development and impacting Pakistan's economy positively.

Areas of Focus for Proposals: PhD scholars who have completed their doctoral studies are invited to submit proposals in the following specified areas:

1. Telecommunication, Information, and Technology/Computers (applications in Govt. services, health, textile, agriculture & dairy, etc.)
2. Engineering Sciences, Micro Electronics, Water, Power, Energy, and Fleet Management
3. Biotechnology and Allied fields (in Health, Agriculture, Textile, Leather & Dairy, etc.)
4. Material Sciences/Man Made Material (Nanotechnology)
5. Robotics, Defence, and Military needs
6. Any other applied discipline conducive to the success of products developed or upscale the process of Industrial level manufacturing.

Project Expectations: The funded projects are expected to lead to the development of a product or service that positively impacts the economy. They should address current problems, meet market needs, utilize local raw materials, enhance the value chain, and create large-scale employment opportunities.

Submission Criteria: Proposals should be academia-industry joint projects, focusing on the development of products or services that solve current problems or identify new opportunities. They should be marketable, leading to positive cash flows.

This awareness session serves as an opportunity for the academic community to engage with the Technology Development Fund and contribute to the advancement of technology in Pakistan. Participants are encouraged to explore how their research can lead to practical solutions and economic growth.
