🌏 About the ADB-JSP

Funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the Asian Development Bank, the ADB-JSP aims to empower professionals from developing countries by enhancing their knowledge and skills through graduate studies. 📚 Host Institution: International University of Japan (IUJ)

IUJ is one of the designated institutions under ADB-JSP, offering globally recognized master’s programs in fields like international relations, economics, and public policy.


✅ Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the ADB-JSP at IUJ, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of an ADB developing member country (e.g., Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, etc.)
  • Not hold dual citizenship with any developed country
  • Be admitted to a master’s program at IUJ
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a strong academic record
  • Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience after graduation
  • Be proficient in English (oral and written)
  • Be under 35 years old at the time of application
  • Be in good health
  • Not be living, working, or studying abroad
  • Not hold a Master’s or PhD degree
  • Not be affiliated with ADB or IUJ staff, or be a close relative of such individuals

🎁 Scholarship Benefits

The ADB-JSP covers nearly all expenses for selected scholars:

  • 💸 Full Tuition Fee
  • 🏠 Monthly Stipend: ¥144,000 (as of April 2025), including housing allowance
  • 📚 Book Allowance: ¥108,000 per year
  • 🛫 Two One-Way Air Tickets: Home country to Japan and return after graduation
  • 🏥 Medical and Accident Insurance
  • 📄 Thesis Allowance
  • 🔄 Renewable for Second Year (based on academic performance)

Note: Scholars must pay ¥50,000 of the admission fee upfront, which will be reimbursed upon enrollment.


🚫 Restrictions

  • Scholars cannot engage in paid internships or part-time work requiring a work permit
  • On-campus roles like Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Facilitator are allowed with prior ADB approval
  • Scholarship may be terminated if academic standards are not met
