The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) is a private, non-profit company established by the Aga Khan Foundation in 1982 to help improve the quality of life of the villagers of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. AKRSP is dedicated to creating sustainable development and fostering community-driven growth.
AKRSP is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the following positions on a contract basis:
1. District Engineer (1 Position) – Regional Programme Office, Gilgit
Requirements:
- Education: BSc in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in Infrastructure, Rehabilitation, and Engineering (IRE) related activities.
- Skills: Proficiency in designing, proposal writing, cost estimation, drawing plans, explaining technical details to communities, preparing as-built drawings, and ensuring quality assurance.
2. Site Engineer/Supervisor (3 Positions) – Under CAPP Project for Area Office Ghizer (Silgan Yasin, Ishkoman) and Area Office Hunza/Nagar (Shimshal)
Requirements:
- Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering (DAE/B.Tech) from a reputable polytechnic institute registered with the Board of Technical Education in any province of Pakistan.
- Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in Community Physical Infrastructure (CPI) related activities.
- Skills: Ability to conduct surveys, prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) estimates, draw plans, communicate technical details to communities, prepare as-built drawings, and ensure quality assurance.
3. Training Officer (Civil Society) (1 Position) – Under BRAVE Project for Regional Programme Office, Gilgit
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in Social Sciences or Natural Resources (Anthropology, Sociology, Development Studies, Natural Resource Management) from a recognized university.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Skills: Proficiency in business mobilization, training facilitation, advocacy, and communication. Knowledgeable in poverty and capacity assessment tools, developing case studies, writing, and ICT skills.

Detailed Job Descriptions
District Engineer
The District Engineer will be responsible for overseeing various infrastructure projects within the region. Key duties include:
- Designing project plans and technical drawings.
- Writing detailed project proposals and cost estimates.
- Supervising construction activities to ensure quality and adherence to plans.
- Conducting site visits to monitor progress and provide technical guidance to field staff.

Training Officer (Civil Society)

- Facilitating training sessions on various topics related to community development and natural resource management.
- Advocating for community needs and representing AKRSP at relevant forums.
- Developing and implementing communication strategies to engage target communities.
- Conducting poverty and capacity assessments using established tools.
