Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Excellence Awards
The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), established under the Act of Parliament 1976, serves as the statutory body for regulating the engineering profession and ensuring the quality of engineering education. PEC is instrumental in driving rapid and sustainable growth across national, economic, and social sectors. The Council has achieved significant milestones nationally and internationally, providing expert support to the government across various sectors.
Engineers in Pakistan play a crucial role in the country's development, particularly in strategic mega projects utilizing indigenous resources. It is essential to acknowledge their contributions towards socio-economic development. In recognition of their outstanding services, PEC has introduced the "PEC Excellence Awards" to honor exceptional engineers in industry, academia, research, policy formulation, and allied fields. These awards aim to promote and encourage the engineering community's continued role in national development, akin to other Civil Awards.
Objective of PEC Excellence Awards:
The PEC Excellence Awards aim to recognize the remarkable services and noteworthy achievements of eminent Pakistani Engineers who have made significant contributions to the country's social and economic development.
**Categories and Format of PEC Excellence Award:**
The PEC Excellence Awards will be conferred in the following eight (08) categories:
1. Lifetime Achievement for Distinguished National Service
2. Academia and Research
3. Innovative and Emerging Technology Development
4. Young Technopreneurs
5. International Associates
6. Engineering Policy, Regulations, and Advocacy
7. Engineering Consultancy Services
8. Infrastructure/ Construction Industry
The format of the award will be a "Gold Medal with a Certificate." Additionally, PEC will cover the travelling and boarding/lodging expenses of the selected nominees. The number of awards may vary in each category based on the decision of the Committee/Competent Authority.
Eligibility Criteria for Nominations:
The eligibility criteria for nominations include:
- The nominee must be an Engineer with valid registration with PEC or an international/equivalent professional engineering body.
- The nominee must have at least 15 years of experience in the engineering profession, except for Category (iv).
- Nominees for Category (iv) should have up to 15 years of experience.
- Nominees for Categories (i) to (iv), (vi) to (viii) must be Pakistani nationals with significant contributions in Pakistan.
- Nominees for Category (v) may be expatriates and foreign nationals who contributed towards the national interests of Pakistan.
How to Nominate:
Nominations shall be made through respective institutions/HEIs/professional bodies/industries/technical organizations or by two eminent engineers fulfilling the same criteria. The nomination form should be filled online, including supporting documents, by the closing date (29th February, 2024).
Deadline for Submission: Thursday, 29th February, 2024.
Evaluation Mechanism:
A high-level Committee has been constituted to oversee the entire process, from policy formulation to the evaluation of nominations. The evaluation criteria are based on academic distinction, research, achievement in Engineering, Science & Technology, inventions of national importance, and distinguished services rendered towards economic development.
Frequency & Schedule of Award:
The award will be conferred annually upon outstanding engineers in Pakistan and expatriates who have contributed to the socio-economic development of Pakistan.

The scrutiny & evaluation of nominees will be carried out by the PEC Excellence Award Committee as per the approved criteria, with the right to reject any nomination.
