Applications are now being accepted for the UPG Sustainability Leadership Class of 2023. This movement mobilizes individuals and organizations to champion positive citizen leadership in sustainability.
It inspires and empowers citizens at every level to take constructive actions, driven by UPG's commitment to proactive engagement with available resources rather than waiting for external initiatives. The movement encapsulates the idea that each person can contribute to making the world more sustainable.
UPG's perspective on sustainability goes beyond traditional "green" concerns like tree planting, waste recycling, energy management, and ocean protection. It also encompasses longstanding societal issues such as education, health, employment, gender equality, sustainable consumption, sustainable production, and more. For those familiar with it, UPG aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The flagship initiative is the #UPGSustainability Leadership training program, engaging 500+ young adults from around the world annually. Join us in driving positive change for a sustainable future.
Evaluation Guidelines: Your application will be assessed by examining the following four sections:
A. Profile: Provide information about yourself to contribute to diversity. B. Motivation: Explain why you aspire to become a UPG Sustainability Leader. C. Capability: Demonstrate your ability to execute your goals effectively. D. Potential for Impact: Outline the potential of your early ideas.

Benefits: Participation in the UPG Sustainability Leadership program is free for selected individuals. All 500 participants will receive complimentary online training and will be certified as UPG Sustainability Leaders upon course completion.
Participants chosen for the one-week immersive excursion will have program costs covered, including training materials, accommodation, subsistence, local transportation, and international flights (round trip from the participant’s hometown to the US).
Eligibility:
- Individuals passionate about specific areas (e.g., jobs, education, oceans); no need to be passionate about all areas.
- Both those who have previously taken sustainability-related action and those who haven't.
- People from all world regions.
- Age between 18 to 35 from March 1 to July 31, 2024.
- Various levels of education.
- Strong motivation to become UPG Sustainability Leaders.
- Willingness and ability to take action on sustainability.
- Belief in UPG’s mission to empower people for positive action to make the world a better place.
