THE COMING “MEGA DISASTER” IN HUNZA
Written By : Karim Rehmat
Well before saying anything let’s know some facts & figures about “The Hunza Valley”. The valley is one of the few parts of Pakistan that has 90 per cent literacy rate.
We all hear from newspapers, social media, Tv channels, etc. that culture, living standards, literacy rate, social behavior, norms etc. of “Hunza” are better than any region in Gilgit Baltistan. Is it So?
Well, I totally disagree!
I have noted that a group of people ((کلچر کے ٹھکیدار are using the name of culture for their own personnel benefits. Youth of “Hunza” is no doubt addicted to wine (Hunza Water), drugs, women/ child harassment and other destructive habits like unnecessary use of cell phones, persuading themselves towards music & fashion industry.
What is culture?
Culture is the social behavior and norms found in human societies. Culture is considered a central concept in anthropology, encompassing the range of phenomena that are transmitted through social learning in human societies. Wikipedia
If I am not wrong the so-called culture of Hunza is restricted to:
• Drinking wine “Hunza water” on occasions like marriages, Eid, functions etc.;
• Dancing after getting unconscious and posting their stupid videos on social media;
• Making hair styles (ponies, long hairs) and wearing tight jeans;
• Standing in front of girl’s colleges, schools, universities or even in front of holy places during prayer time;
• Searching latest video/audio songs of new local so-called artists;
• Dialing wrong numbers and females;
• Walking on streets, markets etc. without any reason and just wasting their time (discussing girls, news movies, serials, seasons);
• Riding motor cycles on KKH (one wheeling stunts) and wasting their lives;
• Smoking cigarettes, cigars and use of (Naswar);
• Unnecessary use of social media (Face books, Whats-app, Instagram etc.);
• Playing flutes, drums, organ etc.
If we take a look at females’ (پڈھی لکھی روشن خیال لرکیان) psyche, we know that they are getting really corrupt. The music industry is really fascinating girls of hunza. If we just take a look almost six out of ten girls are in music industry whether directly or indirectly. Directly in form of singers, dancers and indirectly in form of musicians. I was shocked to see a fifteen years old girl from hunza singing in private parties. For an hour I got out of my mind and I was planning how to approach her family and slap her pervert father, brothers who encourage her to participate such parties in the name of culture.
Really?? Is this culture of hunza??
A society can be destroyed easily by teaching nothing about their history, rituals, norms, culture and also by filling their heads with the hate for education, technical skills etc.
I think the “Think Tank of Hunza” should think about this issue before it’s too late.
To all those who are making fun of “The great Hunza” in name of culture.
To be continued……….
