Job Description:

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting internal audits of ActionAid Pakistan's financial and operational processes to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and donor requirements. The incumbent will work closely with the finance team and program managers to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for corrective action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct internal audits of financial transactions, procurement processes, and program activities to assess compliance with policies, procedures, and donor regulations.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Prepare audit reports detailing findings, recommendations, and action plans for improvement.
  • Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations and monitor progress towards resolution of identified issues.
  • Provide training and capacity building support to staff on financial and operational controls, as needed.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits and assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Professional certification such as CIA, ACCA, or CA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in internal auditing, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Sound knowledge of auditing standards, risk assessment methodologies, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with donor regulations, including those of international development agencies such as USAID, DFID, and EU.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
